Dholera is a big village located in Dhandhuka Taluka of Ahmedabad District of Gujarat. Dholera population is estimated to be 2776 in 2022. There are about 577 houses in Dholera village. Dholera SIR beats with patience: The fragrance of smart city is contained in every particle of the deserted

Dholera means that part of Ahmedabad district, which is no longer limited to just one place or tehsil in the whole world, the financial capital of the western state of Gujarat. Dholera has been declared as Special Investment Region i.e. SPEICAL INVESTMENT REGION (SIR) and is the largest Dholera SIR in the whole world, which is spread over 920 kms.   Recently got the opportunity to visit Dholera SIR. My journey by car started from Ahmedabad and after covering a distance of about 110 kms, when I entered Dholera SIR, I was a bit shocked. I have been hearing about Dholera Smart City Project since the year 2009 i.e. for 12 years, but even after these 12 years, Dholera appeared as if lying deserted all around. However, as Dholera went ahead on Sir's journey, the fragrance of the future vast city i.e. Smart City started coming from every particle of the deserted land of Dholera. What is Dholera SIR in Gujarat?

In India, about six percent of total geographical area is barren or wasteland which in turn mainly not used for growing crops. Dholera is a town in Ahmedabad district. It is an ancient port city in gulf of khambhat at a distance of 30 km from Dhandhuka city of ‘textile hub of India’, which in turn is the seventh most populous district in India. Dholera SIR is largely a saline land. It is close to GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-city). Dholera SIR (Special Investment Region) encompasses an area of 920 square kilometers in which 567.32 sq. km are developable land.
